Tagore Literary Society

The Tagore Literary Society of Government Degree College Baroh is dedicated to promoting the works and legacy of Rabindranath Tagore, a renowned Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Author of Gitanjali and its “profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse, by which, with consummate skill, he has made his poetic thought, expressed in his own English words, a part of the literature of the West”, he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. Prof. Rimpi Devi is the incharge of the society at present.

The society organizes various activities throughout the year to educate students about Tagore’s life, work, and philosophy. These activities include:

  • Literary discussions and debates: The society holds regular discussions and debates on Tagore’s works, covering a wide range of topics such as his poetry, novels, dramas, essays, and music.
  • Guest lectures: The society invites experts on Tagore’s life and work to give guest lectures to students. These lectures provide students with an in-depth understanding of Tagore’s contributions to literature, music, and art.
